Taipei diary
Taipei, a city of kind people and aggressive scooters. 😂
Despite the fact that every time I open my door to go outside, it feels as if I am slipping into a too-hot-for-comfort bath, I’m overjoyed by the fact that this place seems to be as obsessed with food as I am.
I’ve made it my culinary mission to try something I’ve never had before every single day. There’s been mostly highlights, mainly due to bustling night markets, heaving with lines of fellow sweaty people snacking their way to a deliciously full belly.
Almost everyone in the street seems to be carrying something to drink at all times. Thankfully, it’s easy to stay hydrated (and optimistic) with iced Taiwanese oolong tea, cold sweet soy milk, fresh fruit juice and bubble tea (although attempting to order one may induce decision fatigue since there are *so* many options).
Walking through the (rainy) city is a feast of dancing red lanterns, neon lights, bright orchids, vehicles of all types zooming from all directions - all of it accompanied by birdsong, and a steamy perfume of incense from a nearby temple mixed with an occasional, yet unmistakable, waft of stinky tofu.
“Wow, it’s so lush” I seem to mutter daily. Flowers, plants, birds, and butterflies seem to be blooming, growing, chirping and fluttering every where you look.
Taiwan thank you very much for welcoming with your warm embrace. ☁️✨
